when we do too many things at once. :O_o:

So, to recap:
- I haven't done a lot of shooting lately for one very simple reason: my USB ports have not been working. You're right, that doesn't affect my camera, but it does affect my ability to get images from my camera, and short of doing some very tricky technological acrobatics, it's been basically impossible for me to do anythign with the photos i HAVE been taking. MY computer's in the shop now, though, so hopefully I can get this road on the show again, or something.

- We're buying a house. In theory, we close tomorrow, but yesterday afternoon we had more weirdness come up that may or may not affect that closing date. This whole thing's been a crazy roller coaster, but hopefully it ends with us in a giant house on 2.6 acres instead of continuing on in our 800sf apartment with basically no closets. >_<

- I had a GREAT time selling my dolls at Anime Boston. I've set up an account on etsy.com (predictably, at komodophoto.etsy.com) since it's a better venue for selling 3D things than dA seems to be. I still intend to use dA as a gallery, though, I'm not leaving!

- I think that's all for now.

I found this in brandybuck's journal and it looked fun. So, here I go!

The first seventeen people to comment will get two thumbnails of my choice featured from your gallery. The deal is then you must post a journal exactly like this, with numbers 0 - 17, in the number 0 you must feature myself! Then others will post in your journal which you then feature (with any amount of thumbs you'd like):

Thanks again to everyone who's taken the time to enjoy my work, leave me feedback, put up with a million questions that must seem obvious, and especially to those who have occasionally featured my work :boogie: It's been an incredible experience so far, and hopefully, it's just the beginning. It's my dream to be able to look back and go "wow, I remember when 4,000 views was HUGE to me! :O_o:" -- but isn't that all of our dreams? :giggle:

To mark the occasion I'm going to try my hand at a feature of some of the people who have put up with the brunt of my growing process. This is off the top of my head, so if I forget someone, please don't fret -- I won't forget you for long!

The first person that comes to mind is beself, the first deviant ever to put me on their watchlist. We traded feedback fairly regularly at first, and he has always been sweetly honest.

Next up is the incomparable dragonphenx, who I met in a photography chatroom and befriended quickly. She has helped me grow as both a photographer and as a human, and has been in the front row of cheerleaders for my success. I hope I have been able to give the support and good juju to her that she has shared with me.

It wouldn't be a tribute to my influences without smokinjay. Despite being on the other end of the world, he has clocked countless hours reviewing my photos, offering career and equipment advice, and generally being an awesome friend. I'm proud to tell other people about my mentor in China.

I do have two influences that are not dA subscribers. One is my other mentor, Dan Nash. He's a Seattle-area photographer who I used to model for before moving to the east coast. He's answered emails from me with enthusiasm, merrily perused my portfolio and offered his comments, and generally dumped his brain onto the sidewalk every time I so much as hint that I need information. :giggle: You're the best, da3n.

The second is, of course, the muse -- without whom I would never have thought to point a camera at a musician. While I have definitely grown this venture on my own and the work and credit go to my strength, his presence and inspiration nonetheless have woven themselves into everything I do.

I could go on, but I want y'all to have time to visit these galleries and enjoy the work that's inspired me. So go get inspirated! Or something! :#1:

Musing

My muse and I have had a ... tumultuous relationship lately. Trying to find the best way for us to live harmoniously continues to be a challenge for oh so many reasons, and I get the feeling that I only really know a few of them. As a result it's been hard to know whether I should pack my bags, so to speak, and move on -- or if I should hold out hope that we can stay close. Either way, I'm being realistic about the whole situation, so it's not like I'm oozing melodrama over here -- it's just awkward.

Anyway, the only reason I'm even wasting time writing this all out here is that I just got a "Thought for the Day" email that describes my thoughts about him so perfectly that I had to share them.

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same." -- Flavia Weedn

In photography news, I've been really, really busy shooting bands and hope to have some awesome new images for everyone's perusal soon (maybe even today, if I'm feeling saucy!). However, I'm also on vacation with my family RIGHT NOW LIVE! :#1: and starting school basically the minute we get back, so if it takes me a little while, I'm sorry, but life has to come first and stuff.

I have been watching everyone's deviations, though, and commeting where and when I'm able, so all y'all should keep up with the art! I'm really enjoying it :aww:

I've gotten a couple notes lately asking where I went. The answer is simple: I got hit upside the head with finals season. Without going into a lengthy explanation, I had a more obnoxious time than the average student would, but at least now it's over and in the future, it shouldn't ever be this hard again.

New material will be forthcoming directly. I've got a rather impressive backroll of shots that I've been wading through. Since I want to be up-to-date by Saturday, that means a lot of editing in my future! :typerhappy:

Thanks for all who cared enough to wonder what had happened to me, and I promise I'll do my best to not just drop off the earth like that anymore. ^^;

oh ps: 3000 pageviews! :#1:
